Ahead of the 121st Labor Day celebration tomorrow (1 May 2023), President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. leads the distribution of various government assistance to 1,400 beneficiaries at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City on April 30, 2023.
Among the assistance are the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) and Integrated Livelihood Program, Government Internship Program (GIP), Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES), and tool kits from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
The President also witnesses the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) and memorandum of agreement (MOA) between and among the DOLE and different government agencies to support and further strengthen the labor force through livelihood programs, job creations and skills training, among others.
Covered in these documents are the Implementation of DOLE-TESDA Training Production Convergence Program under the Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino Housing (4PH) Program of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DSHUD); Promotion of Industrial Peace Employment Facilitation and Healthy Working Conditions of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA); and the DTI’s Conduct of Advocacy and Training Initiatives on Productivity Improvement and other Capacity Development Programs for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
Likewise, President Marcos Jr. checks on the ongoing jobs, livelihood and business fairs that feature 902 participating employers with an estimated number of 82,000 vacancies from different industries. These include business process outsourcing (BPO), manufacturing, retail and services, insurance activities and food service.
