The Kubera Principle

The Kubera Principle

The Book That Will Change the World

Being a stay-at-home parent is tougher than holding a 9 to 5 job. You will need unimaginable amounts of patience, organization, empathy, and a lot of other skills. When you decide to enter the job search after a while, your resume must feature your best qualifications, not the career gaps.

1. Create a customized resume for each job you apply for
A one-size-fits-all resume is a myth. Target your resume for the job description and use keywords to tailor it for the position.

2. Highlight the skills you used while being home
There will be a lot of transferrable skills that make great additions to your resume. Identify them and use them well.

3. Address the career gap on the resume
Something like “Career Sabbatical to Take Care of Children” in the work experience section of your resume should do the trick.

4. Ask yourself, “Does this add value to my resume?”
Cut off everything that doesn’t add value to your resume. These will include filler words, overused phrases, and personal info.

5. Mention the professional skills you acquired on your resume
The courses you took while at home and the certifications you earned will add value to the resume and impress a hiring manager.
