As part of the Mission Society’s third annual Virtual Career Fair, we hosted a virtual panel featuring accomplished Reporter, Brennon Dixson, and Photojournalist, Shuran Huang, who spoke about their field and their advice for joining the workforce. Each panelist shared their backgrounds, information on how they built their careers, and their favorite stories from the field. You can learn more about our featured panelists below–
Shuran Huang 黃舒然 (she/her) is a Cantonese photojournalist based in Washington, D.C. Her photography focuses on politics, immigration, human rights, and diaspora experiences. Shuran’s work has been published in The New York Times, Vogue Magazine, National Geographic, Netflix, and more. She holds a Master’s degree in Photography from Syracuse University and a Bachelor of Arts in International Journalism from Hong Kong Baptist University.
Brennon Dixson is a Southern California-based reporter who has covered major stories featuring NASA, the MLB All-Star Game at Dodger Stadium, Coachella, the Rams’ Super Bowl run, and more. The Cal State Long Beach graduate has covered community stories for the Los Angeles Times and previously reported on education and city politics in the cities of Santa Clarita, Santa Monica, and Pasadena for various newspapers.
